Privacy Policy

GharScore ('we', 'us') is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we share it, and how we protect it. GharScore operates under Pakistani law, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (PDPA).
1. What we collect
Account data: your first name, last name, and email address when you sign up. Review data: the ratings, text, and optional details you submit about a property. Tenancy proof: if you choose to upload a tenancy document to verify a review, we store it in a private, access-controlled storage vault. Location data: the area/sector and city you provide when adding or reviewing a property. Usage data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security, performance, and error monitoring.
2. How we use your data
To provide the Service: show reviews, verify accounts, send confirmation emails. To verify reviews: tenancy proofs are reviewed by our team only to confirm a real tenancy, then retained as evidence. We do not share tenancy documents with landlords or other users. To communicate: confirmation emails, replies to your support requests. To monitor stability: error reports help us fix issues quickly. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
3. Anonymous reviews
Your name is never shown publicly on a review unless you opt in. By default your review is attributed to a pseudonym ('Tenant XXXX') derived from your account ID. Your identity is known to GharScore internally for accountability and legal compliance, but not revealed to other users or landlords without a valid legal order.
4. Third-party service providers
We work with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate GharScore. These providers process information only to the extent needed to deliver their service: • Authentication and account management • Secure database and file storage (servers in the EU and US) • Transactional emails — for example, account confirmations • Website hosting and content delivery • Privacy-friendly, anonymous analytics to understand how people use GharScore — loaded only with your consent • Application monitoring to help us identify and fix errors quickly • Web fonts — your IP address is passed to the font provider when the page loads These providers are contractually required to protect your information. They may not use it for their own purposes. We do not share your personal data with landlords, property owners, or advertisers.
5. Tenancy proof and sensitive information
Tenancy documents may contain sensitive personal information such as ID card numbers or addresses. We store these in a private vault that is not accessible to the public or to other users. Only GharScore administrators can access them for verification purposes. We do not display, copy, or forward these documents except as required by law.
6. Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we anonymise your reviews (removing your name and email) and delete your tenancy proofs within 30 days, unless retention is required by law. Review content may remain in anonymised form to maintain the integrity of the platform.
7. Your rights
Under Pakistani law you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing support@gharscore.pk. We will respond within 14 working days. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by the PDPA.
8. Cookies and analytics
We use browser storage and a session cookie to remember your language preference (English or Urdu). We do not use advertising cookies or sell browsing data. On your first visit, we ask for your consent to enable optional privacy-friendly analytics that help us understand how GharScore is used. If you choose 'Essential only', no analytics data is collected. Application error monitoring is always active as a core service needed to keep GharScore stable — it does not track individual users and is not used for advertising. You can change your analytics preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
9. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database access is restricted to authorised personnel and protected by row-level access controls. Tenancy proofs are stored in a private, access-controlled vault. Sensitive technical information is not included in the files served to your browser.
10. Changes
We may update this policy and will note the effective date at the top. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
